 Creative Processes

I work in several genres – principally seascapes and urban streetscapes.

My interest is in the contrast between light and dark, with the aim of drawing the viewer into the image and beyond. In some works I attempt to highlight the contrast through reflected light and shadows. Some paintings aim to create a sense of drama or mystery, (e.g. Urban Winter Evening 1&2, Hope Alley). Other approaches are to create strong structural or architectural images (e.g. Railway Bridge) or wistful/tranquil moods (e.g. Evening in Paris)
