Wattle Park by Sharon Desailly

Features

ARTIST NOTES: One of the joys of Spring is the wonderful yellow colour pop of Golden Wattle lining paths and gardens around the country. Did you know that Australia has 960 Wattle species, all of which flower in Winter except for the Golden Wattle which is native to Victoria and South Australia and pops out in Spring. They offer food and shelter to many birds, insects and animals. We love this plant so much that Australians can celebrate even a National Wattle Day on 1 September. Inspiration for this painting came from a walk through the park. The sunlight cast alternating rich shadows and brightly lit patches between the tree lined path ahead and the scent of Wattle filled the air. Spring is definitely in the air here in Australia! Painted predominantly with pallet knife, the best quality professional oils are used in this bright, highly textured and unique painting.

ARTIST BIO

Words like joyful and vibrant are used often to describe Sharon DeSailly's contemporary paintings.  Use of brilliant colours in oils and acrylics, and bold texture are recognisable elements in her style. As a full time artist living in Bayside, Melbourne, as well as being an avid traveller within Australia and abroad, she easily finds the inspiration and drive to pay tribute to beauty in our everyday life. Through her paintings, DeSailly invites the viewer into the scene to 'be there' in an almost tactile way.

DeSailly's abstract impressionist approach lends itself to any subject.  Her gallery transports the viewer from the deep perspective of a vivid seaside sunset; to highly textured trees against the intense rich hues and powerful rock formations of Kakadu and outback Australia; to beautiful fragrant flowers in riotous French cottage gardens, some captured in huge scale to highlight their amazingly detailed blooms; to a cat napping in a Tuscan farm potted lemon tree, to a flock of playful cockatoos or a magnificent, proud rooster to make you smile.

Paintings by Sharon DeSailly celebrate all living beauty.  Through her wonderful, original works of art she brings joy into the homes and lives of collectors, with her artworks hanging in homes across Australia and in several countries around the world.
