LIZ FITZGERALD
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Liz Fitzgerald originally worked as a graphic artist before teaching visual arts for many years. Living on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria provides her with endless inspiration and ideas.
Her artworks may be remembered or imaginary places: she moves between figurative, imaginative and abstract works and finds this changing of perspectives an interesting dance. A continual theme is the coastline of the Peninsula shown both as semi-realistic or abstracted works. She enjoys sketching and painting on location and use these to reference later works.
For Liz, painting is a process of revelation, of addition and subtraction. She sees this process as a continuous balance between loose interpretation and considered mark-making.
